Artist Larry Dean - NC Landscapes
Creates Colorful North Carolina Landscape Scenes from the Mountains to the Coast
Larry's artistic and musical roots run deep in North Carolina soil. His mother was a talented painter who inspired him to pursue both art and music. With a major in music from Campbell University, he became a professional musician. Today he leads North Tower Band, a group of six musicians who play festivals, concerts, and special events throughout the Southeast.
In the new millennium, painting has become a passion for Larry. He travels the state with camera in hand, watching the light, shadow, and color as they dance their way through the day. Back in his studio, he studies his snapshots and lets his
imagination out to play and apply paint to canvas.
His work has become known for unexpected, pulsing colors that make North Carolina scenes fresh and intense. His acrylics convey the respect for the history and culture of his home state.
His canvases now hang in the homes and offices of prominent North Carolinians, among them Ira David Wood, III, Frank Daniels Jr., Rufus Edmisten, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Duke Raleigh Hospital, Raleigh Convention Center, The Miriam Block Gallery at the Raleigh Municipal Bldg., Cary Visual Arts, and Raleigh Country Club.
He was awarded a blue ribbon for a painting of downtown Raleigh at the North Carolina State Fair and a “Best in Show–N.C. Scene”. His work has recently appeared in Metro Magazine, Midtown Magazine and the Clayton News-Star.
